Search Engine Commando Support

Support :: Technical Difficulties

   Search Engine Commando tries to send email messages using a different email client than the one I normally use.

   Search Engine Commando supports two methods for creating and sending email messages: MAPI and SMTP (see the Project Options icon in the Preferences folder, then click the Email tab).

SMTP is the preferred option because it is more robust than MAPI and works with Search Engine Commando's scheduling service. To use SMTP all you need to do is enter the hostname of your outbound email server at your ISP.

If you choose to use MAPI, Search Engine Commando will use the default "Simple MAPI" email client in Windows. This is usually a program like Outlook or Eudora. The problem occurs when Windows is configured to default to an email program other than the application you're accustomed to using. This can happen if you have more than one email program installed on your computer.

Most email programs have a check box in a configuration dialog for enabling "Simple MAPI" support. For example, in Outlook Express the option is labeled "Make Outlook Express my default Simple MAPI client," located unders Tools | Options in the menu. Other email clients support Simple MAPI as well using similar procedures, and you may need to reboot your PC for the change to take effect.
